TaRMS Registration Guide

Step-by-step guide to registering on ZIMRA’s online tax portal

What is TaRMS?

TaRMS (Tax Revenue Management System) is ZIMRA’s online platform for all tax administration. Launched to modernise Zimbabwe’s tax system, TaRMS replaced the older manual processes and allows taxpayers to manage everything online, including registration, filing returns, making payments, and applying for tax clearance certificates.

The portal is accessible at tarms.zimra.co.zw and works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Before You Start: Have your documents ready in digital format (scanned copies or clear photos in PDF/JPG). File sizes should be under 5MB each. You will also need a valid email address and phone number.

Common Problems & Solutions

I cannot verify my email address
Check your spam/junk folder for the verification email. If not found, click “Resend Verification Email” on the login page. Use a Gmail or Yahoo email rather than a company email if your company server blocks automated emails. Allow up to 30 minutes for delivery.
My documents keep getting rejected
Ensure documents are clear and fully legible. ID cards must show both front and back. The Certificate of Incorporation must be the original (not a copy of a copy). Proof of address must be recent (within 3 months). Save as PDF rather than JPG for better quality. Each file must be under 5MB.
The portal is slow or not loading
TaRMS can be slow during peak periods (month-end, deadline days). Try accessing during off-peak hours (early morning or after 6pm). Clear your browser cache and cookies. Use Google Chrome for best compatibility. Disable any VPN connections.
I forgot my TaRMS password
Click “Forgot Password” on the login page. Enter your registered email address. A password reset link will be sent to your email. If you no longer have access to the email, visit your nearest ZIMRA office with your national ID to request a reset.
My company registration is not being accepted
Ensure your company registration number matches exactly what appears on your CR5 certificate. The company must be registered with the Registrar of Companies (CIPC) before registering with ZIMRA. If recently incorporated, allow 48 hours for the CIPC database to sync with ZIMRA.
How do I add VAT or PAYE registration to my existing TIN?
Log into TaRMS, navigate to “Tax Registration,” and select “Additional Registration.” Choose the tax head you want to add (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax). Upload any additional documents required and submit. Your existing TIN will be updated with the new registration.
